Before

Finished high school unsure whether learning was "for him." Had sat through shiurim but never felt the pull.

The Turn

Three weeks into Maseches Bava Metzia, a sugya on kinyan — acquisition — stopped him cold. The Rambam and the Ramban disagreed on something that felt like it mattered. His chavrusa wouldn't let him move on. Neither would he.

Now

Now in his second year of Iyun Track. Gave his first chaburah last Adar. Applying to semicha programs for next year.

Maseches Kiddushin

Before

Corporate attorney. Last serious learning was bar mitzvah prep. Wife suggested a Torah study program. He was skeptical — convinced he'd forgotten too much, started too late.

The Turn

Maseches Kiddushin, second week. The sugya on eidim — witnesses — mapped onto courtroom logic he'd spent fifteen years building. His rebbi noticed. Said: "Your kishkes already know this. We're just giving it a name."

Now

Restructured his Thursday schedule around a second-seder chavrusa. Learning Orach Chaim with a partner in Jerusalem via video call every Sunday morning.

Before

Cardiologist. Four kids. Shabbos learning had always been aspirational — squeezed between rounds and homework help. Enrolled in the evening bekius program as an experiment.

The Turn

Finished Maseches Brachos in seven months. Hadn't finished a masechta since yeshiva. The siyum was the first time his oldest son saw him cry.

Now

On his third masechta. Leads a weekly daf yomi shiur at his shul. His youngest asked if he could come to the beis midrash on Sunday mornings.
